Defensive Driving Tips – Dealing with Motorcycles

Sometimes it’s hard. They are much smaller than your automobile and can easily be lost in your blind spot. The last thing we want to do is get into a collision with a motorcycle. Motorcycle drivers have virtually no protection.

Approximately 6.8 million motorcycles are registered in the US. 5,000 drivers will expire in traffic related accidents. Equally concerning is that thousands more will suffer debilitating injuries.

One of the chief reasons for these numbers is that automobile drivers often don’t see the motorcycle. They are little. The only have one headlight, and they move fast with rapid acceleration.

A good way to “see” a motorcycle is to begin training yourself to look for them. Once you see one it is essential that you treat it like a car. Motorcycles have the same rights to the road as any other motor vehicle. Thus, if you neglect to yield, you not only are at fault but you may cause serious injury or even death to the other driver. Here is an interesting truth – 2/3 of motorcycle crashes are the fault of the passenger car driver not yielding the right of way to the motorcycle driver. These collisions usually occur in the day time.

Now, you can’t be looking for motorcycles if you are distracted by use of your phone, the radio, your pet, or any other action that would serve to deflect your attention from the task at hand (That is – paying attention to the road).

When you check your mirrors, make sure to double check your blind spots. As I mentioned, motorcycles can easily get lost in your blind spot. Remember what I said about looking for motorcycles. The minute you educate yourself to do so, you will be one step ahead and your chances of seeing the motorcycle will increasesignificantly.

When motorcycles slow down they habitually downshift the vehicle. Such an action does not engage their brake lights. So, when you’re behind a motorcycle it’s a good idea to allow yourself plenty of room to stop by keeping a prudent distance between you and the motorcycle.

A good way to learn more about safely sharing the road with motorcycles is to take an Online Defensive Driving Course. You can learn more about these and other useful driving techniques by taking a defensive driving course. You can take a 6 hour classroom course. Or, you can take an Online Defensive Driving Course course program. Doing either will not only prepare you to be a safer driver, but you can received a 10% discount on your auto Liability, Collision, and No-Fault insurance for three years.

So, act today. Take an online defensive driving course or take a classroom course. But don’t take your driving for granted.
Be hands on.

If you are facing a problem of sleep paralysis and need some answers on it then this article is for you. Go through it as it looks at the causes and offers solutions.

Whilst it is not physically harmful sleep paralysis can leave you emotionally drained and tired from a restless night. If you are experiencing frequent episodes then you might want to know if there is anything you can do to prevent sleep paralysis. What you must understand is that this is a neurological condition that is triggered by a number of things.

Other places that will be able to help you with this condition are any one of these: ways to Stop Sleep Paralysis, how to stop sleep paralysis, remedies to sleep paralysis

If you want to know how to prevent it then you must know how it is caused and what triggers. In all the cases anything that will disrupt your normal sleep cycle will trigger sleep paralysis. People who are under a lot of stress and tension are also likely to experience sleep paralysis.

Try to be in a relaxed mood when you go to sleep. You could try and channel out your stress and frustrations through exercise. Ultimately when you do fall asleep the mind must be free. There are also stimulants like caffeine, alcohol and tobacco that are capable of disrupting your sleep. If you want to prevent sleep paralysis then avoid taking these substances at night or before you sleep.

There are two things that will kick the brain out of sleep, light and sound. Do sleep in a dark room and try and switch those appliances off. It will not help much going to sleep with the radio or TV on. Mantaining a regular sleeping schedule is also recommended. This will make sure the body gets used to waking up and sleeping at certain times only.

There are many ways in which you can prevent sleep paralysis. The techniques that I’ve talked about here are just some of the things that you can do. You can also get to know how other peoplel have dealt with the condition.
