How To Slow The Pace Of Getting Older

Have you ever woken up one early morning to find yourself looking in the mirror and being concerned how your face appears like it has aged, with facial lines becoming more prominent? With the busy lives that we lead these days, it is hard maintain with our own routines at times. Here are some ideas that might help to minimize the presence of wrinkles.

But first of all what are these?

Wrinkles are folds, lines or creases that can appear on the neck, hands, forehead and face. They can be deep depressions inside the skin that are caused when the skin has lost it’s firmness. The pores and skin consists of 3 layers:

The EPIDERMIS, the outermost layer that everyone can view. This layer acts as a barrier to the elements of the outside environment.

The DERMIS, which contains the structural elements of the skin is the middle layer. This is the ligament.

The SUBCUTANEOUS, almost all inner layer contains fat cells. They help make the skin look plump or full.

Collagen, a protein in the dermis layer, is what helps minimize wrinkles. Fibres called elastin have an elastic quality that also help. After a while the collagen and fibres deteriorate that makes the pores and skin become thinner. When this happens not enough moisture can get through the epidermis. As we humans age, natural oils in our skin become much less and the number of sweat glands drop and this can lead to our pores and skin drying out.

Some methods that we can decrease this effect are-

1/ Protect our skin from the direct sun light. Use sun block with a SPF of 30 or higher. Long sleeve, pants, and hats to cover the skin. Keep in mind that the UV can be very strong on cloudy days, so put on something to cover your skin..

2/ Keeping your skin hydrated is a must. Drink a good amount of water, a minimum of 6-8 glasses is a good amount to have.

3/ Moisturise every morning with a good moisturiser or sunscreen. Doesn’t need to be the costliest, something that you’re comfortable with, perhaps not too oily.

4/ Do not smoke. Smoking will draw out each of the moisture from the pores and skin and dehydration will happen quicker. This will then make the pores and skin look a lot older and make appears seem older earlier than it should.

5/ Facial massages will stimulate the muscles and tone them up quicker.

6/ Diet is really important to keeping wrinkles away. Eat lots of veggies and reduce the consumption of fats. Eat high antioxidant foods, they’ll help build up collagen and rebuild elasticity in the skin.

7/ Good skin care: Exfoliating and cleansing to clear dead skin cells. Hydration of the skin with moisturiser as stated in step 3.

8/ Drinking Green Tea is also quite beneficial as it contains a lot of antioxidants, so can be very useful.

9/ Another good skincare idea that I have been exposed to is using vitamin E and honey. Mix a capsule of vitamin E with some honey and rub it onto the face, leave for around ten to fifteen minutes and wash off with warm soapy water. Honey allows to moisten and vitamin E is wonderful for repairing pores and skin injury.

10/ Get a good amount of rest. You need to have this to help your pores and skin rejuvenate.

Getting old is something that we will all face eventually, it’s unavoidable. But getting there at a much slower pace is what we are all looking for. Here’s to your success in beating growing older.
