Chemo wigs are used by patients undergoing chemical therapies as a part of their cancer treatment. They form an important part of a full recovery for such people, who typically experience hair loss as a side effect of treatment. Like others on the market, Chemo Wigs are either 100% human hair wigs or comprised of synthetic fibers. Human hair is usually much preferred over synthetic ones so they are almost always much more expensive. They can also be cut and styled in any way, with some people claiming they can actually feel the difference between real hair and man-made hair. Wigs made from human hair tend to be sourced from Asia or Eastern Europe. Hair from Asia is quite often Chinese, Korean, or Indian, and can undergo treatment for color and texture. Hair that comes from Europe tends to originate in the eastern half of the continent and do not generally need such processing. They are often known as “virgin” or “all-natural” hair.

Cancer is one of the cruelest diseases because it is so inexplicable. Common hair loss during chemotherapy is caused when the administered antineoplastic drugs attack cells that multiply quickly – a common trait among cancer cells, but also hair follicles. So as the drugs attack the cancer, they also attack the hair which can be thought of as collateral damage. Chemo Wigs tend to the psychological aspects of chemical therapy, the only treatment offering any hope to those diagnosed with the later stages of cancer. But the loss of hair almost completely alters one’s appearance at a time when one’s self-identity may be under question, so even a small matter like hair can have deep and far-reaching effects. Some other things one may do for oneself in that regard is to protect the scalp and any remaining hair. Since the baldness that comes with chemotherapy should be temporary, it is probably important to take extra special care of the natural hair that might still remain, using a soft brush and the smoothest pillowcases, which are less likely to catch hair during sleep.

Cancer treatment is very costly, but Chemo Wigs may be covered by health insurance, depending on the precise terms of the policy. These hairpieces help people, particularly women, deal with the trauma and stigma of hair loss. There are also non-profit organizations that will lend wigs out to qualifying applicants for free. And many companies offer special pricing with a doctor’s notice. But whatever the source, the use of wigs to help promote self-confidence and self-esteem during one of life’s most challenging times is very common. A good quality wig can even be considered a kind of medical equipment, and actually wind up being one of the most used of all!

You should read this article to learn all you need to know about sweating at night and men. Although there is much information about women and sweating while sleeping, not a large amount has been written regarding adult men and night sweats. In males the night sweating usually begins after the person has crossed the fortieth year, though this is certainly not perfect dictate.

Given that night sweats usually are associated with some underlying medical symptom, treating the source might relieve the individual suffering. However, distressed sleep is really a significant issue and on a long-term basis leads to more medical issues for the person.

Some of the common and medicinal conditions creating night sweats in adult males are detailed below:

Common causes for night sweats in males:

Ordinarily on a very sweltering night you may sweat; that is the body’s natural reaction to overheated body heat and is a means to regulate our bodies warmth as well. Sweating is mostly a biological detoxifying process for the body to rid itself of the poisons.

If you consume a lot of alcohol, you are going to face sweating at night, it is the body’s device for doing away with the excess alcohol in your system.

There are specific foods, like fiery foods, onions, garlic and red meat that can set off night sweats in men.

One more reason could be anxiety, when you are under great strain, mentally along with emotionally your system is so stressed that the nervousness comes out in the form of sweating at night.

Medical reasons for night sweats in adult males:

Andropause, nearly all of you will have heard of menopause, that is what ladies move through at a particular phase in life. Males also hit the menopause parallel at a particular point in life, which is called andropause. When hormone levels adjust and your body tries to adjust itself, hot flushes and night sweats in men results in being a common dilemma.

Bacterial or viral infections can cause sweating at night. Tuberculosis is among the more popular infections linked with sweating while sleeping. You also have bacterial endocarditis at which the heart valves grow to be swollen, osteomyelitis where the bones turn out to be irritated. AIDS as well as HIV are also viruses connected to night sweats.

Sweating while sleeping may be one of the early symptoms of most cancers and is mostly related to lymphoma. Body temps change whenever you have cancer and this will now and again lead to sweating while sleeping. That is certainly not to say that everybody having sweating at night has cancer.

Short blood sugar amounts can cause sweating at night in adult men.

When there are no tumors or additional tangible warning signs of a medical problem, the medicine an individual is taking may well act like a trigger for your night sweats.

It is always best to seek therapeutic attention for each thing out of the ordinary happening to your body to find the explanation for your sweating while sleeping

I had major weight problems when I was growing up, I liked all of the wrong types of food and drinks.

I also had other things in my life, which were a concern for me, I suffered with a stuttering speech impediment from the age of four, I had a bald patch on my head from birth and I was also quite short for a male at only five foot four. All of these had a massive negative affect on my overall self-esteem. To make myself happy, I would binge and comfort eat, which would only add to the problem. I would feel guilty for hours, after eating for only twenty minutes.

Aged 21; I decided to fight back – I needed to become much fitter, healthier and thinner. I was now working for a front doors company and also part time for a firm which offered cheap calls, it was now time to attempt to lose some weight. I then went about formulating my own form of diet. I realised I had to cut out these wrong type of foods I was eating and to also drink far less alcohol. To say this was difficult was an understatement, however I knew that I had to be strong and to fight off my urges and cravings.

OK so the majority of weight loss experts would advise me to stop eating such fatty and foods and to cut down on my alcohol intake – this was not something that I was particularly interested in doing and so I formulated the following plan:

Breakfast

For breakfast I would eat properly for example, a bowl of cereal or a couple of slices of toast.

Lunch

At around one o’clock I would eat my lunch which would consist of something light such as a salad or a plain jacket potato.

In between meal snacks

It was quite simple; the snacks had to stop; I needed to stay disciplined to not eat between each meal.

Evening meal

Lets have some fun, this was the meal where I allowed myself some pleasure as I decided that I could basically eat what I wanted to, including pizza, my favourite.

For exercise I decided to ditch the car, wherever possible, and walk to more places. Something else that I started to do, and have continued to do, was to take my kids to the local playing fields on a much more regular basis. At the park we would play games such as football, cricket and baseball. It is amazing how much weight you can lose by having fun.

Chiropractic is considered safe for several types of individuals, including infants and children. Now, even pregnant women are reaping the benefits. Just like any other type of treatment, it is important to know about the procedure and risks associated with chiropractic care during pregnancy. You can get optimum results by reviewing the details.

Talking About Safety

Chiropractic care is generally safe even when given to pregnant patients, provided that the practitioner is a qualified and experienced chiropractor. The professional should be well-trained in the physical changes that happen inside a pregnant woman’s body. Chiropractors trained to deal with pregnant patients need to have a special table that adjusts accordingly to the shape and size of a pregnant women, at different stages of the process. Techniques will be incorporated to avoid unnecessary pressure on the abdomen.

It will be necessary to consult a chiropractor who is expert in the treatment of pregnant women. The professional should be highly competent in meeting the needs of pregnant women, providing stretches and exercises that are generally safe during pregnancy and support any type of adjustment given to the spine.

Is It Useful?

As a women enters pregnancy, variouis physical changes and alterations in the endocrine system takes place which prepare the environment for the developing fetus. The changes can also lead to joint and spine problems as evidenced by pelvic changes, protruding abdomen and more back curve, posture changes, uterus enlargement and uterus expansion forward.

When you create a balance and pelvis alignment, you get to have chiropractic care during pregnancy. Pelvic misalignment often lowers the available room for the baby. The baby may have a hard time getting into the right position just in time for delivery. The spine also needs to be aligned, so that the nervous system can properly send messages to different systems and organs, thereby making the body work better.

Knowing the Benefits

Pregnant women can benefit greatly from chiropractic care, such as a controlling signs and symptoms such as nausea and headache, keeping a healthy pregnancy, relieving joint, neck and back pain, minimizing the time of delivery and labor and avoiding the possibility of a caesarean section.

Unnecessary stress is lost or reduced from the uterus and supporting ligaments as balance is achieved in the pelvis of pregnant women. The balanced state then makes it easier for babies to turn naturally. The risk for having a breech position is lessened significantly. Babies may be presented in the breech position until the 3rd trimester, which is very normal. It is only during the 37th week that experts start worrying about breech position.

Treating Symptoms

Chiropractic care during pregnancycan eliminate several problems such as sciatica, low back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome and midback and rib pain. Pregnancy associated with low back pain is usually linked to several joint problems in the body.

As women’s bodies become heavier throughout pregnancy, more and more stress and physical conditions can develop. These should be treated immediately with chiropractics. Subluxation is described as misalignment of joints, thereby triggering irritation to tissues and nerves in the surrounding areas. Hormones also boost quickly during pregnancy with some causing joints, muscles and ligaments to relax.

The pelvis, in turn opens, to let the baby to go through the birth canal. Treatment via chiropractics is highly useful in assisting mothers have easier deliveries.

signs of menopause

Many females have the tendency to slow down at the time of their menopausal years and merely depend on menopause remedies like natural progesterone, however it is significantly important to be fit and active as much as possible. There are numerous arguments why regular exercise is especially important during a woman’s menopause and below are some of the top reasons:

Heart disease. Menopause has been reported to exacerbate the probability of being afflicted with coronary heart disease; however if the cardiovascular system is strengthened with regular physical activity, then the risk is significantly decreased. Physical training also promotes the health of our blood vessels so that good circulation is sustained and symptoms during menopause, such as chronic exhaustion and enervation will cease.

Porous Bones or Osteoporosis. Even though working out cannot fully block the advent of osteoporosis, it can diminish the rate in which bone density is lost, hence the condition advances at a much slower rate. It can also produce more hardy and tough ligaments, bones and tendons so that strains and breakages do not ensue quite so often. Natural hormone replacement therapy is also believed to protect against osteoporosis and is worthy of hashing out with your physician.

Depressive Disorder. This is a common sign of the onset of menopause. And exercise has been proven to clear depression in many women. This is because exercise galvanizes the brain to release endorphins, which are referred to as the ‘natural high’ producing hormones for they produce a feeling of liveliness. Minor depressive disorders generated by the uncertainties of this natural condition can often be assuaged by performing some kind of exercise.

Overall Feeling of Satisfaction. Working out is great for making you feel fitter and healthier, even if you only exercise a few times each week. Plus if you are feeling more contented about yourself, then you will not be so caught up with symptoms of perimenopause.

What type of exercise regimen you should do is a personal choice. However, you should aim to include a variety of aerobic routines and muscle building workouts.

Cardio Training Program.
This category includes any form of physical exercise that makes the speed of your heartbeat and your breathing rate to rise. Some examples of these exercises are brisk walking or aero-walking, jogging, running, swimming, biking or vigorous dancing. It also includes activities such as doing chores in the house, gardening activities, chasing after your puppy or the children and even vigorous lovemaking. In fact, whatever activity you do which causes your heart to pump faster can be described as an aerobic activity and thus it is beneficial for you.

It is essential not to over-exercise however, because the potential benefits of exercise can be negated by overexertion and this will get you feeling weak and tired when you should be bright and feeling good.

Muscle building Exercises
This includes anything that makes your muscles work. These can be, climbing the stairs, lifting objects, stretching and muscle toning exercises and even carrying bags or heavy objects can be classified as body building even if these activities don’t technically cause your muscles to grow. Weight_lifting workouts are vital for keeping the tendons, bones, connective tissues and muscles stronger, and this in turn lessens the chance of getting bone fractures and sprains.

Based on this health arguments you can see that any workout exercise undertaken during the menopause years is more desirable than not having a fitness plan. You should try to find a few fitness activities you like and alternate between these physical activities so that there is minimal chance of you getting disinterested to performing them regulary. Lastly, a moderate amount of fitness routine during the pre-menopause years can make life a lot more comfortable menopause and ‘post-menopause’; and ultimately, is it not what we ladies want?

The viewpoint that the explanation for all the menopause symptoms is due to an instability of hormones is a superficial understanding and requires a deeper insight.

Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective: Menopause is determined a deficient characteristic of the liver and qi (life force). When the energy and blood quality is deficient and obstructed then all body organs that depend on that blood are not able to function at their best. This condition causes the liver to overheat which rises through the body, wreaking havoc in its path. The heart, lungs, digestion, glands, throat, mouth & teeth, nose, eyes, ears, brain, skin and hair become heated and dried resulting in the body heat ailments. Additionally, When the liver isn’t filtering the blood then it progresses into a clotted and sluggish.

Because the body is deficient of life-giving body energy, quality filtered blood and diet, therefore the glands do not perform normally. Their glandular secretions can develop irregularly or immobilized altogether. Whereas the blood is filtered and nourished then the body’s organs thrive. Progressively, the energy comes back and they are able to function normally. The hormonal functions, secrete normally, transforming the body towards wellness.

The physical body isn’t missing chemical hormones. The blood is clogged like sludge. Glands are not receiving/transmitting life-giving messages, timely and/or minimally!

So therefore why do we add or provide more hormones. Doesn’t that risk an overload of hormones? Remember when you were a teen and your hormones were super revved. You won’t want to chance of experiencing that again. You have enough hormones. If you nourish your blood, keep fit, sleep, deal with stress, etc. Our hormones revive back and reenforces increased balance.

So if Chinese medicine knows the problem, then what is their solution to this weakened conditioneath

What Restores Usual Hormone Function? Chinese Medicine Has Had An Answer for More Than a Thousand Years! Traditional Chinese Medicine has 20+ formulas for menopause. But which one is the best? To figure this out, its necessary to consult an adept Master Herbalist. While nearly all women fall into 6 main constitution types: 1) cold 2) damp 3) deficient 4) hot 5) dry and 6) excess

On the whole menopausal women benefit 95% of the time from Chinese herbs contained in Menopause Comfort. The exception is during the summertime. Particular women, who are more hot than the usual population, require a colder menopause herbs, Paramalin, to offset the surplus inner heat produced in the liver.

You can look at the top 10 menopause Chinese herbs, the most effective menopause formula, listed in more depth, at Longevity Mountain.

But when you’re being treated for cancer and already feel fatigued, not sleeping well can be devastating.

Sometimes you can’t get a good night’s sleep because of anxiety or depression. Other causes include pain, night sweats , some cancer medications or side effects from treatment.

When counting sheep doesn’t work

Making small lifestyle changes during the day and in the evening can help improve the quality of sleep you get at night. Here are some tips:

Stick to a routine. That means waking up and going to sleep at the same time each day, even on weekends. Following a predictable routine at night before bed may also help. For instance, try a relaxing bath or cup of decaffeinated tea followed by 30 minutes of light reading.

Exercise in the morning. If your doctor has given the go-ahead to be active, do so early in the day. Exercising too close to bedtime can make it harder to fall asleep.

Avoid heavy evening meals. If your body has to focus on digesting food, it may not be able to fall asleep – or stay asleep – as easily. If you’re hungry after dinner, have a light snack at least an hour before bedtime.

Find a new spot for work – and naps. Dedicating your bedroom to nighttime sleep only can help make nights more restful. Try napping during the day on a comfortable sofa or bed in a spare room. Set up a workstation in another room in the house, and keep computers out of the bedroom.

Cut down on alcohol and caffeine. It’s a good idea to limit your overall intake. But it’s even more important to avoid both of these for four to six hours before bed. If you usually need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, limiting all fluids for a couple of hours before bed may stop you from having to wake up.

Do something relaxing. Stress-reducing activities like yoga, listening to music and even writing in a journal can help you unwind before bed.

Keep the room cool, quiet and dark. A too-warm room can make restful sleep difficult. Use fans, open windows and cover up with lighter sheets and blankets – or skip them altogether – to make the temperature just right for you. Use blackout curtains if outside light filters into the room. They may also reduce outside noise.

Treat yourself to new bedding. A set of high-thread-count sheets can make your bed feel like one from a fancy hotel. Replace flat, worn pillows with supportive new ones to make you more comfortable.

It’s important to talk to your doctor if you’re having trouble sleeping, especially if the lack of shuteye is affecting your ability to function during the day. He or she will talk about the possible causes of your insomnia. For instance, if pain is keeping you up at night, your pain medication may need to be adjusted. In serious cases, if lifestyle changes don’t help, your doctor may prescribe a medicine to help you sleep.

Every so often I will mention the profit margins that some of the drug pushing companies get.. It goes past that. There are generic alternatives available but when you go to purchase them the pharmacy will have them marked up to the point that you think you are getting a good deal even though it is still outrageously priced.
Since the cost of prescription drugs is so outrageous, I thought everyone should know about this.

It pays to shop around! This helps to solve the mystery as to why they can afford to put a Walgreen’s on every corner. On Monday night, Steve Wilson, an investigative reporter for Channel 7 News in Detroit , did a story on generic drug prices gouging by pharmacies. He found in his investigation that some of these generic drugs were marked up as much as 3,000% or more. So often we blame the drug companies for the high cost of drugs, and usually rightfully so. But in this case, the fault clearly lies with the pharmacies themselves. For example if you had to buy a prescription drug, and bought the name brand, you might pay $100 for 100 pills.

The pharmacist might tell you that if you get the generic equivalent, they would only cost $80, making you think you are saving $20. What the pharmacist is not telling you is that those 100 generic pills may have only cost him $10! At the end of the report, one of the anchors asked Mr. Wilson whether or not there were any pharmacies that did not adhere to this practice, and he said that Costco consistently charged little over their cost for the generic drugs.

I went to the Costco site, where you can look up any drug, and get its online price. It says that the in-store prices are consistent with the online prices. I was appalled. Just to give you one example from my own experience I had to use the drug Compazine which helps prevent nausea in chemo patients.

I used the generic equivalent, which cost $54.99 for 60 pills at CVS. I checked the price at Costco, and I could have bought 100 pills for $19.89. For 145 of my pain pills, I paid $72.57. I could have got 150 at Costco for $28.08.

I would like to mention, that although Costco is a ‘membership’ type store, you do NOT have to be a member to buy prescriptions there as it is a federally regulated substance. You just tell them at the door that you wish to use the pharmacy, and they will let you in..

I am asking each of you to please help me by copying this letter, and passing it into your own e-mail, and send it to everyone you know with an e-mail address.

Now a cancer survivor, the mother of four has launched a line of sleepwear especially designed with moisture-wicking technology to keep women comfortable at the height of their night sweats.

"They are soft, silky and lightweight. It just moves really nicely and dries really quickly," she said.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, she wasn’t quite prepared for the night sweats that came with her treatment. Every night, she woke up feeling clammy and in a puddle of sweat.

Many chemo patients have also found success with the Bedfan when it comes to finding relief from night sweats attributed to chemo and cancer

"I was just desperate for a good night’s sleep. It was very frustrating and exhausting," she said.

That’s when her husband, Kirby Best, suggested she try sleeping in one of his athletic shirts. A former Canadian athlete, he knew of a high-tech fabric that would keep him dry when he was really working up a sweat while skiing.

"It was in the very early days of moisture-wicking technology. It’s now much more commonplace to see a soccer player or Sunday jogger wearing a similar shirt. They all know the benefits of working out in that type of fabric," Anne said.

Anne finally got some sleep in this shirt. But it wasn’t very comfortable or stylish for a lady.

About five years ago, she began to experiment with the fabric, sewing different feminine-style patterns and testing out a variety of colors. The Bests then developed DryDream Sleepwear to distribute what was then just the classic long nightgown.

Since then, business and demand have boomed. Now they offer the nightgowns along with pajamas, camis and men’s style boxer shorts, all with moisture-wicking technology. Many women also mix and match the styles and colors.

And it’s not just those going through cancer treatments who shop online at www.dry dreamssleepwear.com. Some of their customers are also women going through the hot flashes of menopause and those who are pregnant who are also reaping the benefits of a good night’s dry sleep.

"We’re sort of evolving as our customer base takes us at this point. And we’re just launching our own manufacturing facility in Coleman, Ala., where we’ll have much more control over the quality of our products. The sky is the limit. We’re even talking
about medical wear such as patient gowns or scrubs," she said.

Now cancer-free, Anne hasn’t forgotten the battle against breast cancer. Net profits from DryDreams go to support breast cancer research organizations, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

"One of the key reasons for starting this was to give back to the medical community. They’re still not at the point where anyone can say that we have a cure for breast cancer. So until that point, we want to support research and treatment development in the community. We want to be a part of the solution," she said.
