Night Sweats – A Pointer of concealed troubles

image Night sweats, or sweating at night so immensely that your sheets turn out to be drenched is a sign that there is something not right. There are many problems signaled by night sweats but could your night sweats be related to a ailment recognized as haemochromatosis?

Haemochromatosis is a ailment that is inherited from family members. Nearly one out of 200 of us hold the gene, which causes the body to suck up too much iron from foodstuff.

The body is unable to deal with this excess of iron, and the build-up causes injury to various organs and tissues, together with the liver, heart as well as joints. The symptoms exist only when the organs are already injured, which is why the illness repeatedly isn’t diagnosed until middle age.

Pfizer suffering from night sweats

Not to worry, it will only take a few hours for them to make this money back.

image Pfizer Inc. must pay about $75 million in punitive damages to an Illinois woman who developed cancer after taking one of the drugmaker’s menopause treatments, people familiar with a sealed verdict in the case said.

A Philadelphia jury ordered Pfizer’s Wyeth unit on Oct. 26 to pay the bad-conduct award, which is about 20 times larger than the $3.7 million in actual damages the panel awarded to Connie Barton over her use of Wyeth’s Prempro menopause drug, according to people with direct knowledge of the verdict.

A judge ordered Barton’s punitive-damage award sealed at Wyeth’s request until the trial of another Prempro lawsuit in the same courthouse is completed. Lawyers in that case say jurors won’t start deliberating on that suit’s claims for another three weeks.

“The company believes there is no basis in fact or in law for the jury verdict in the Barton case,” Pfizer spokesman Christopher Loder said. “We plan to ask the judge to reject both the compensatory and punitive awards. We anticipate that if the judge doesn’t grant the company a judgment notwithstanding the verdict, we will appeal.”

Loder said he couldn’t comment on the amount of the punitive damages verdict because of a court order banning disclosure of it while a related trial is in progress.

Every so often I will mention the profit margins that some of the drug pushing companies get.. It goes past that. There is one place apparently where you can get them at good prices.. Costco.. So now the story.

Make sure you read all the way past the list of the drugs. The woman that signed below is a Budget

Analyst out of federal Washington , DC offices.

Did you ever wonder how much it costs a drug company for the active ingredient in prescription medications? Some people think it must cost a lot, since many drugs sell for more than $2.00 per tablet. We did a search of offshore chemical synthesizers that supply the active ingredients found in drugs approved by the FDA. As we have revealed in past issues of Life Extension a significant percentage of drugs sold in the United States contain active ingredients made in other countries. In our independent investigation of how much profit drug companies really make, we obtained the actual price of active ingredients used in some of the most popular drugs sold in America .

Consumer price (100 tablets): $130.27
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.60

9,000 lawsuits over menopause drugs – but still on the market

I saw a study the other day regarding the actual cost of medications, Many of these product were marked up 40,000 % that is forty thousand percent and some much much more. The profit potential in these drugs is so high that there is no end to what greed and corruption that will come from these piles of money. Menopause is a hot topic and a profitable topic for many companies, They will make you stop your night sweats but don’t worry about that Brest cancer you develop, it is just a side effect.

Pfizer Inc. doesn’t have to pay more than $27 million in punitive damages to an Arkansas woman who blamed her breast cancer on the company’s menopause drugs, an appeals court ruled in ordering a new trial on the award.

The U.S. Court of Appeals in St. Louis today upheld a jury’s March 2008 finding that the hormone-replacement drugs helped cause Donna Scroggin’s cancer and its award of actual damages. The three-judge panel also backed a judge’s decision to throw out the punitive award to Scroggin, who alleged two Pfizer units ignored or downplayed the risks of the drugs.

“Scroggin presented sufficient evidence to submit the question of punitive damages to the jury,” the appeals court said in its 41-page ruling. “The evidence presented could allow a jury to find or infer that Wyeth was guilty of malicious conduct within the meaning of Arkansas law.”

Cancer survivor develops sleepwear for night sweats

Night Sweats Brentwood resident Anne Best took one of the darkest experiences of her life and turned it into a business to help other women make it through the debilitating effects of chemotherapy.

Now a cancer survivor, the mother of four has launched a line of sleepwear especially designed with moisture-wicking technology to keep women comfortable at the height of their night sweats.

"They are soft, silky and lightweight. It just moves really nicely and dries really quickly," she said.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, she wasn’t quite prepared for the night sweats that came with her treatment. Every night, she woke up feeling clammy and in a puddle of sweat.

Many chemo patients have also found success with the Bedfan when it comes to finding relief from night sweats attributed to chemo and cancer
